Franchisors need to book early for popular Franchise Expo
In a difficult economic environment, having the weight of nationally or internationally recognised branding behind you can ease concerns for anyone looking to start a successful business. Franchising is a less risky and less time-consuming way for potential business owners to enter the business world. But where does the potential franchisee begin, and where can franchisors find those unique individuals and operators to help grow their business?
For thousands of potential business owners, this past August offered a solution through visiting New Zealand’s very own Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo. This unique event has been servicing the local business community for 18 years. It is sponsored by ASB and supported by Franchise New Zealand magazine and website.
‘Not only is the Expo an important event for franchisors looking to find the right people – it also offers visitors the chance to meet experts and talk to business owners face-to-face in a uniquely independent environment,’ says Brett Rodger of organisers Expro NZ Ltd. ‘Information that could take days to collect can be researched in a matter of hours, while there’s also the chance to ask questions of franchisors and franchisees and arrange follow-up meetings on the spot.
‘Visitors can talk to and hear from the experts and learn how to minimise risk, with free seminars run daily. They can seek out business opportunities launching for the first time, or investigate mature business systems and the range of opportunities available. They can also look for business ideas to suit their particular lifestyle and budget, from under $50,000 to over $500,000.’
The 2011 Expo was described as an outstanding success by exhibitors, visitors and organisers alike with many comments like ‘the best yet’ and ‘everything we needed.’ ‘It was the excellent quality of exhibitors and their stands, coupled with the nearly 4000 enthusiastic visitors, that made the Expo the success it was,’ said Brett. ‘It appears interest in franchising and new small business models is at an all-time high. We are seeing a wave of redundancies and job losses across the public service and corporate sectors alike. Many of those adversely affected are high net worth individuals with great skills, commitment and energy. They are often looking for a challenge and a business of their own to secure the future for them and their families. Franchising is obviously a logical place to look.’
Expro has released the dates for next year’s Auckland event, which will take place from 10-12 August 2012, again at the ASB showgrounds in Greenlane, Auckland. ‘Stands are on sale now and potential exhibitors should book early to secure the best locations.
