Money Concepts - Financial Planning Franchise Means Business

by Money Concepts, last updated on 20th September 2010

Money Concepts franchisees offer unbiased financial and risk management advice

Few franchises have more than 25 years’ experience in New Zealand, but Money Concepts does – and when you’re in an industry which relies upon having a solid track record, experience matters. Furthermore, as a member of Money Concepts International, which has over 700 offices worldwide, Money Concepts New Zealand has access to resources that many franchises can only dream of. Now the company is actively recruiting franchisees to spread the world’s largest financial planning network to all corners of the country.

‘This is an opportunity to become managing director of your own Money Concepts Financial Planning Centre,’ explains Daryl McAlinden, the company’s Franchise Development Manager. ‘You’ll benefit from Money Concepts’ reputation and enjoy the prestige that goes with the name. We will help, support and guide you, and provide sophisticated computer-based systems that will help you get the best results.’

The core business of Money Concepts is providing financial and risk management advice particularly to small and medium size businesses. Perhaps surprisingly, this doesn’t require a franchise applicant to have finance or even business ownership experience. ‘What franchisees need,’ explains Daryl, ‘are communication and listening skills, the right attitude and to be honest and trustworthy.

You see, the franchisee’s role is relatively straightforward. On first meeting a client they identify the specific areas where Money Concepts can best assist. Next, they ask questions necessary for us, as franchisor, to run various sophisticated systems to provide our internationally-recognised unbiased advice. This may involve financial planning or a risk management audit covering all areas including governance, company structure, documents and liquidity. From then on, the franchisee is responsible for managing the client relationship rather than the actual figures.

‘As a Money Concepts franchisee you have ongoing access to a broad portfolio of products from many leading financial services companies – not just a few. Financial products we recommend are A-rated, researched and pre-screened by independent research houses. We provide marketing concepts and seminar formats to help franchisees attract and convert clients, and proven procedures to operate, all within the framework of a proven business plan. Each franchise is linked to our sophisticated computer-based systems to provide an objective analysis of every client’s current situation.’

Indescribably Satisfying

Having spent more than three decades in financial management, Daryl suggests few franchise opportunities so effectively blend high fee-based financial rewards with personal satisfaction and career fulfilment. ‘It’s the nature of this business that you become deeply involved with the lives and dreams of clients. Knowing you have been a catalyst to helping them achieve their ambitions – whether business expansion or financial security – can be indescribably satisfying.’

Daryl’s experience is shared during an intensive four-day one-on-one programme at Money Concepts’ Wellington office. This is followed by real-life work in each franchisee’s own territory to familiarise him or her with all aspects of the business. The investment is $79,000 +gst and franchisees can work out of a home or serviced office. ‘They should also have sufficient capital to cover their first three months until cashflow turns positive,’ Daryl suggests.

Chartered Accountants

And thanks to Money Concepts’ reputation, you don’t have to find new clients all by yourself. ‘As the franchisor, we approach chartered accountants on behalf of the franchisee proposing that they offer their business clients unbiased financial and risk management advice,’ explains Daryl. ‘Because we don’t have any financial products of our own (unlike banks), we find most accountants are agreeable. Franchisees then run seminars for the practice’s clients as well as members of the public. This is so effective that territories are based on the number of chartered accountants they contain.’

Daryl says a Money Concepts business can not only return a healthy income but also provide tremendous opportunities for expansion via employed advisors. ‘It really does offer a whole range of options for the right people. If you think you could be a successful, high-earning franchisee of tomorrow, call me today and find out more.’
