Energy Saving Centre
right business RIGHT TIME

by Energy Saving Centre, last updated on 19th September 2011

Energy Saving Centre’s sales are booming despite the recession. An innovative low-cost entry plan means now is a good time to join the franchise

The energy saving industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors both in New Zealand and around the world. With public awareness of the health and cost benefits ever-increasing, the demand for quality energy saving products for homes and businesses is forecast to continue to rise throughout this coming decade and beyond.

Energy Saving Centre has been at the forefront of energy conservation in New Zealand and over the last 16 years has become one of New Zealand’s most trusted providers of retro-fitted double glazing, insulation and heat pumps. ‘Our products have been successfully installed into thousands of Kiwi homes and commercial premises, allowing customers to save money and improve their quality of life,’ says Dave Catley, the company’s managing director.

‘Since government legislation now requires double glazing and a higher standard of insulation to be fitted to all new homes, we have also seen an amazing increase in demand for our products. With energy prices steadily increasing, our customers see it as common sense to insulate their homes and businesses better, otherwise all their expensive heat is literally being lost. As the experts, Energy Saving Centre is one of the first places people turn to for help, which is why we need more franchisees now.’

Energy Saving Centre franchisees offer a range of leading energy saving products. They exclusively market and install the Insulglaze® and Kiwiglaze® double glazing brands, which have been specifically designed for the retro-fit market. They also market Pink Batts, New Zealand’s most recognized form of insulation. and Fujitsu Heat Pumps, NZ’s number one selling heat pump for the last three years. ‘Other products are constantly being evaluated to ensure our franchisees remain the market leaders,’ Dave says.

Record Growth From Existing Stores

With successful company-owned stores having proven the franchise in Canterbury, Bay of Plenty and the Waikato, Energy Saving Centre are looking to expand their network into other regions around New Zealand. ‘After record growth over the last two years – despite the recession! – we are in a strong financial position and are able to offer the right people a fantastic opportunity to gain ‘low cost’ entry into this highly rewarding business,’ says Dave.

‘We are so confident of our products and franchise support systems that we are prepared to put our money where our mouth is. We are offering a substantially reduced up-front fee of under $10,000 to the right applicants with the balance payable over the following two years, ensuring your success is our success.’

Training, Support & Generous Returns

What are the right skills? ‘You are likely to have management or sales and marketing experience, plus the ability to lead a team of staff and contractors,’ Dave says. ‘Experience of the double glazing market isn’t essential – in fact, little or no industry knowledge should not be a barrier to prospective franchisees as we will train and support you through this process. In addition to having a great range of products and services to offer, franchisees will also benefit from great support.  We have over 50 personnel working at our stores sharing experience and our management systems been set up to help franchisees succeed. Apart from the operational side, our accounting & IT packages have been purpose-built and are fantastic tools to enable the franchisee to be in control of their business at all times.’

Dave believes that if the franchisees succeed, the franchisor succeeds – ‘It’s a classic win-win,’ he says. Accordingly, he has appointed Murray Clark as National Franchise Support Manager. Murray has had vast experience in franchising, having been both a franchisee and master franchisee previously, and it shows in his approach. ‘Energy Saving Centre franchisees go through a week-long training programme as part of the pre-opening build-up but, unlike most other systems, we insist that they bring all their key personnel as well,’ he says. ‘This may seem excessive but we see a lot of benefit in training the franchisee’s key team members. That way, everyone knows how the business is supposed to work and can share goals and support each other.’

With only a few large exclusive territories available for all the main cities, Energy Saving Centre offers a great opportunity for franchisees to build an extensive business. ‘Our experience shows that you can generate both a good income and a generous return on investment for the effort you put into the business,’ says Dave. ‘This is a perfect opportunity to build a very profitable business in a fast-expanding sector. To learn more, call Murray right now and find out how you can become the energy saving expert in your own area.’
