Amazing Clean - Start Small, Grow Big
by Amazing Clean, last updated on 23rd July 2009
State-of-the-art treatment for blinds, curtains, upholstery & mattresses
As people become increasingly aware of the health implications of the bugs and dirt harboured in common items such as blinds, curtains, mattresses and furnishings, a market with huge potential has opened up. ‘That's the market served by Amazing Clean,' says Ray Foot, who brought the Australian franchise here last year. Starting in the Waikato, Amazing Clean has proved a winner with the locals and now offers opportunities for franchisees throughout New Zealand.
Amazing Clean already has over 70 franchisees across the Tasman and is recognised by most blind manufacturers as Australia's premier blind-cleaning and repair group. The company uses state-of-the-art ultrasonic equipment to clean and sanitise blinds without harsh chemicals. ‘The process is gentle but so effective it even removes nicotine stains and mould,' says Ray, who has 25 years' experience in operations, sales and general management.
A second division offers additional services to the same market. Amazing Clean Curtain, Upholstery, Leather and Mattress Care is a separate franchise that provides excellent service and attention to detail in cleaning curtains, soft furnishings and even mattresses on-site.
‘The Amazing Clean franchises are not merely self-employment opportunities - they are real businesses,' Ray says. ‘Blind Cleaning and Repair franchisees can start the business from home, needing only a double garage or large shed. The daily routine involves picking up blinds from domestic or commercial customers in the Amazing Clean van and bringing them back to base for ultrasonic cleaning. After drying and repair, they can be returned later that same day.'
The Curtain and Upholstery cleaning franchise is fully mobile, with work being carried out at the customer's home or workplace. ‘The idea behind both franchises is to keep overheads low so you have a chance to build your business steadily,' explains Ray. ‘Franchises are available from $45,000+gst, with a suitable vehicle being leased and specialist equipment rented. There is a flat-rate franchise fee, so the bigger you grow the bigger the rewards. Full training is provided, including two weeks in Hamilton and at least a week in the franchisee's exclusive area.'
Amazing Clean's franchisees need no experience and can be any age. ‘They do have to be straightforward and practical thinkers, able to inspire a customer's trust and sell the services,' says Ray. ‘Many are husband-and-wife teams and some are multiple franchisees. If you're motivated, determined and success-driven, owning more than one territory or service gives you the opportunity to build up quite a sizeable business. A single established area can turn over $200,000 plus. No matter how small you start, how big you grow is up to you!'
