Called, inevitably, ‘Jim's Academy', the centre is being promoted as ‘The Business School where you learn "how to" from those that have.'
‘With the Jim's brand we've built a huge knowledge bank over the years on what works and what doesn't,' said Jim Penman, who styles himself ‘The face that launched a thousand trailers.' ‘I want to share the Jim's knowledge with others who want to learn.'
Jim's Academy will be managed by Melbourne-based business coach Geoff McDonnell. '‘A major focus of Jim's Academy is to address the need for small business people to be trained by successful small business owners rather than academics or corporate executives,' said Geoff. ‘Jim and some of his successful Jim's Group franchisors will be involved in the teaching, along with a number of highly qualified business trainers and coaches.'
The Academy will be run from the Jim's Group Mooroolbark headquarters, a former Swinburne University campus, in the outer suburbs of Melbourne. The campus has been extensively refurbished and includes a restaurant and on-site accommodation. Jim's Academy will also offer distance education via the web. Courses commence on 20 June.
