Wherever you are, it’s easier than ever to stay in touch with Franchise New Zealand
In This Article
We print over 50,000 copies per year of Franchise New Zealand magazine and they go all over New Zealand - and beyond. We have readers in the UK, South Africa, Australia, the Pacific Islands, China, Taiwan and many other countries.
But it’s not always possible to get hold of a copy of the magazine if you’re on the move or overseas, which is why you can now read the whole of Franchise New Zealand magazine online. In fact, it’s better than that – you can download the latest issue (or back issues) and read it even when you’re not online.
The e-magazines can be accessed by PC and Mac users, as well as iPad and Android tablet owners, thanks to a partnership between Franchise New Zealand and Zinio, the largest online news-stand in the world. ‘Zinio offers over 50,000 digital magazines and books from GQ and Time to National Geographic and Cuisine,’ says Sally Knight, publication manager for Franchise New Zealand. ‘Users can download a simple app that enables them to view an exact replica of these publications with high-quality graphics and easily read the same information they get in the printed version. They can sample the magazine for free and then subscribe using their iTunes account.’
The Zinio app makes reading Franchise New Zealand magazine even easier, says Sally. ‘The operating speed and page loading are very good and very fluid. You can zoom in on any page with a simple double click to get the size of text you want; you can view single or multiple pages at a glance, and clicking on any of the headlines on the contents page will take you straight to that page. You can also search the entire magazine for mentions of any particular business or topic, and all of the email and website addresses in the editorial, adverts and the directory are all “live” so that you can click on them and instantly get more information. That’s a great help for readers – and a great additional benefit for advertisers, too.’
Magazine, Website, Email and E-mag
Franchise New Zealand was the first English-language franchise magazine to be featured on the Zinio news-stand. ‘It’s the latest in a long line of firsts for us,’ says publisher Simon Lord. ‘In 1992 we created the first franchise magazine for New Zealanders, in 1997 we launched the first New Zealand-specific franchise website at www.franchise.co.nz, and since 2001 have published a newsletter (now in monthly email format) to help readers stay abreast of the latest news and opportunities. Over 9,000 people have already subscribed to the newsletter – you can join them at www.franchise.co.nz.
‘The e-mag app is an additional option for those people who choose to do their reading on the move. We don’t expect this to take over from the printed magazine, which – as readers will know gets absolutely everywhere – or from the website, which with over 600 articles carries a huge amount of incredibly valuable information for anyone wishing to find out more about franchising in New Zealand. Because franchising covers such a variety of industries and levels, e-mag readers are a growing part of our overall readership, and the partnership with Zinio means that the magazine is readily available so people can access it in whatever way they choose.’
Available World-Wide
Another advantage of the e-mag is that it enables overseas users and potential immigrants to subscribe and get the same information available to local readers. ‘You can download a single issue or subscribe for a year using your iTunes account or directly via the Zinio online newstand’ explains Sally. ‘That’s a big benefit for readers in the UK, South Africa or wherever who are planning to move to New Zealand and want to identify good business opportunities at an early stage. A small but important number of the 12,000-plus visitors to our website every month come from overseas and with the e-mag they can get each issue the moment it’s released and browse through the opportunities the same way that print readers can.’
And the e-mag is another way for advertisers to reach prospective franchisees, too. ‘All the adverts and advertorials in each issue are linked and live without our advertiser having to do a single thing,’ Sally explains. ‘There is no additional charge for this service – we’re just proud of being able to provide an additional service to our clients that helps make their advertising budget work harder than ever.
‘So whether you’re at home or travelling, in New Zealand or overseas, on business or on holiday, there’s no need to miss out. Now you can download Franchise New Zealand on to your laptop, netbook or tablet along with your favourite digital books. And if you’ve been experiencing the best of New Zealand from overseas during the rugby, make the most of it – find out more about our vibrant franchise sector and the opportunities it offers with an e-mag subscription.’
