The Coffee Club cheque presentationThe Coffee Club New Zealand has presented a cheque for $42,461 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand, a not-for-profit organisation that offers peer support to men, and their families, who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and actively promotes awareness of the disease through community promotions.

September was the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s Blue September campaign month. For the whole of September, customers were able to purchase a blue ribbon from any New Zealand The Coffee Club store with a gold coin donation to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s research and awareness raising efforts.

'The Coffee Club again made a great contribution to this year’s Blue September campaign,' says Graeme Woodside, CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. 'With more than 50 stores and thousands of customers through the doors in September, they have raised a record amount of funds and, more importantly, shared the message of prostate cancer awareness with many of those customers. We thank them, and their customers, for supporting Blue September again in 2014.'

The Coffee Club is well known for offering support and funding to local communities and schools as well as contributing to environmental initiatives. Each year, the company donates over $200,000 in charity events and assists in raising around a further $700,000 yearly towards beneficiaries. As well as Blue September, they also support KidsCan and the Children's Hospital Foundations.

'It’s very important to us that we give back. Raising awareness of some of New Zealand’s most serious diseases, along with funding for research, is one way to do that,' says Andy Lucas, Marketing Manager and Co-Director of The Coffee Club New Zealand. 'Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in New Zealand, with 1 in 10 men suffering from it in their lifetime. That means that a fair few of our customers will likely have to deal with it at some point. We want our customers to be aware of this disease, which can devastate families, and get regular health checks – or ensure that their brothers, fathers, husbands, partners and uncles do. Early diagnosis always offers the most positive outcome. We are proud to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation and look forward to working with them again next year.'
