The Opportunity
DIY giants Mitre 10 and the award-winning Columbus Coffee chain have joined forces to offer some exciting new opportunities for anyone wanting to enter the café business. The new franchise offers entry-to-ownership options at substantially lower levels than other café franchises.
The new outlets are branded as ‘MEGA Café powered by Columbus Coffee’ and will open in every Mitre 10 MEGA store across the country. The first four are already open, with another seven launching this year. At the same time, existing cafés within 17 stores will be rebranded and refurbished over the next 12 months.
The great thing about owning a MEGA Café is that customers are delivered right to your door. From day one, Mitre 10 MEGA heavily promote their stores and customers come streaming in. At one opening, the café generated revenues of $20,000 in its first seven days! That’s a huge opportunity but you have to have the systems, the training and the products to meet that sort of demand from day one. That’s precisely what MEGA Café and Columbus Coffee delivers.

Because each café is built as part of the MEGA store we are able to complete them for a very reasonable cost compared to a stand-alone café. Also, Mitre 10 MEGA stores are so large they are able to negotiate very competitive rental rates. The bottom line is that both the investment required to acquire a MEGA Café and the operating costs are very reasonable – potentially much lower than other coffee chains.
We have existing cafes ready to convert to the new brand and new cafés ready to open in Mitre 10 MEGA stores throughout the country.
